Did you know that a secondment can open doors to entirely new collaborations and career paths? A new wellbeing programme for researchers and research managers is now available, thanks to ERA Shuttle!
A great example originates from former ERA Shuttle secondee, Angie Mifsud, a Research Senior Manager, at the University of Malta, who has just launched a 5-day wellbeing program alongside Ela Kurtcu and Boris Bulatovic from Steinbeis – who met during Angie’s secondment in Berlin.
During her secondment at Steinbeis, Angie got the opportunity to combine her passion for emotional regulation with viable business tools thus turning this into a new business concept. Together with Ela’s sustainable wellbeing expertise and Boris’ Entrepreneurial flair, they have teamed up to support the wellbeing and sustainability journey of those involved in research.
As Angie herself said, “I realised how much I love my current position at the University of Malta. At the same time, I want to keep growing and this secondment showed me the way to do it. By turning my passion into a viable business concept which will enable me to share my passion on wellbeing practices and emotional regulation tools with the University community, at the same time expanding further to serve researchers and research managers as well as Industry players.”
This initiative came around as professionals today are more and more facing stress, burnout, and information overload in both life and work. This workshop, based on the SWEPPP Project and Wellbeing4Sustainability programme, builds well-being as a fundamental part of professional growth. Through evidence-based approaches of positive psychology, participants learn how to cultivate resilience, emotional balance, and sustainable achievement and enhance personal fulfillment and organisational sustainability for a greater personal and professional outcome.
By the end of the workshop, the participants will have established daily routines of wellness such as gratitude, mindful eating, and mindfulness exercises. They will assess their online behavior through a self-survey to identify “technostress” and learn strategies that facilitate healthier digital balance. They will also learn Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) to support emotional regulation and emotional intelligence, and Pranayama breathing techniques, which have been proven to reduce stress, improve concentration, and develop overall physical wellness.
